Your Voodoo Fest 2017 Homework

Colony House:

  • If you like: The Killers
  • When: Saturday @ 1:30pm
  • Where: Alter

These four dudes know how to rock, and they know how to balance that with summery hooks that will make you want to dance.  If you’re looking for the uninhibited joy of feel-good music but you don’t want to skimp on substance then this is the set for you.

  • If you like: Dillon Francis or RL Grime
  • When: Sunday @ 5:00pm
  • Where: Le Plur

We cannot tell you what this set will be like.  Not because it’s indescribable, but because we’ve never seen her play the same set twice.  What we can tell is that she will combine the technical skills of being a great DJ, the art of being a great producer, and the stage presence that only someone who truly loves their job can have.

Rich Chigga:

  • If you like: Kendrick Lamar or Post Malone
  • When: Saturday @ 4:45pm
  • Where: Le Plur

At first listen his tracks might sound like nothing to write home about.  The guy has a nice flow and his presence is really fun.  But what sets him apart is that his sets are a mixture between a satire hip hop and a true love of the genre.  If nothing else it’ll be interesting.

  • If you like:  Galantis or DJ Snake
  • When: Saturday @ 3:30pm
  • Where: Le Plur

The last time we saw this guy his set was so good we were actually happy that the speakers went out at Slushii (which is saying something!).  He knows how to keep the crowd in the zone without resorting to cheap drops and dirty bass.  Just good, clean, piano driven, electro-house.

The Record Company:

  • If you like: Brand New or Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats
  • When: Saturday @ 4:30pm
  • Where: South Course

If you asked us this band was 45 years old or had only been around a few years we wouldn’t know which to choose.  Their blues rock sound is timeless and its built around sexy bass guitar licks that make you wanna move.
