1st Weekend

Fakear:

  • If you like: Odesza
  • When: Friday @ 5:15pm
  • Where: Sherwood Court

Fakear is a French producer who someone at Apple Music is a big fan of, because he shows up on A-List Electronic a lot.  The South East Asian flair of his melodies and lightly layer percussion lines on his tracks make us like him a lot too.

Ekali:

  • If you like: Dillon Francis or Nero
  • When: Saturday @ 6:30pm
  • Where: Tripolee

Ekali has been quietly working his ass off this festival season.  The Canadian DJ / Producer is versatile enough to spin art-house electronica, then pivot into a trap banger.  We don’t know what kind of a set he’ll lay down in the forest but it’ll be interesting for sure!

The hip abduction:

  • If you like: My Morning Jacket or The String Cheese Incident
  • When: Sunday @ 7:30pm
  • Where: The Observatory

The Hip Abduction is a group of buddies that almost became a jam band by accident.  Their style takes us through roots sounds, indie pop, and of course the reggae you’d expect of some kids from Saint Pete Beach, FL.

Viceroy:

  • If you like: Big Gigantic
  • When: Sunday @ 6:45pm
  • Where: Tripolee

Viceroy is following the growing trend in dance of adding saxophone to the track in this way that makes us think he did it before it was cool.  His groovy 70s style jams span from funk to disco.  This should be an upbeat, fun set.

Sonny Fodera:

  • If you like: Claude Von Stroke
  • When: Thursday @ 6:00pm
  • Where: Tripolee

The more we listen to Australian house DJs like Sonny Fodera, the more we think we need to head to a festival down under.  Sonny Fodera pulls together traditional house music that still manages keeps your attention like a pop song.

2nd Weekend

Wax motif:

  • If you like: Bassnectar or DJ Snake
  • When: Thursday @ 6:00pm
  • Where: Tripolee

We caught both of Wax's sets on Holy Ship 10.0.  This guy knows how to throw in just enough trap-style without drowning out the early 2000's hip-hop and dance influences in his style.

Haywyre:

  • If you like: Big Gigantic
  • When: Thursday @ 6:00pm
  • Where: Ranch Arena

Haywyre is the yacht rock of electronic music, whaling on his keyboard like he was playing a guitar solo.  If that doesn't sound appealing let us throw in that we've seen him 3x and he's markedly better at each show!

Ekali:

  • If you like: Dillon Francis
  • When: Saturday @ 6:30pm
  • Where: Tripolee

Ekali has been quietly working his ass off this festival season.  The Canadian DJ / Producer is versatile enough to spin art-house electronica, then pivot into a trap banger.  We don’t know what kind of a set he’ll lay down in the forest but it’ll be interesting for sure!

The hip abduction:

  • If you like: Nahko and Medicine for the People or The String Cheese Incident
  • When: Sunday @ 7:30pm
  • Where: The Observatory

The Hip Abduction is a group of buddies that almost became a jam band by accident.  Their style takes us through roots sounds, indie pop, and of course the reggae you’d expect of some kids from Saint Pete Beach, FL.

Valentino Khan:

  • If you like: Claude Von Stroke or Hi-Lo
  • When: Friday @ 10:30pm
  • Where: Tripolee

You actually know this guy!  Either you've heard his track "Deep Down Low" or you don't get out much... in which case we're glad you're going to the Forest.  Anyway, this set should give you a chance to throw shapes and do some headbanging.  Enjoy.
